Files you check and clean
Files you add to the tool may be processed on our servers or by service providers working for us, to check them and to remove their tags. We use them only to do that and to give you the clean copy, never for anything else, and they are deleted automatically within 24 hours. Analytics, error reports and logs never receive a file, its name, its pixels or the text of its metadata.
Information we collect
You can browse the site without an account. To clean a file you sign in — by a one-time link sent to your email address, or with Google — which creates an account holding your email address, your display name and picture if Google provides them, your credit balance and plan, and a record of your purchases. When you visit, the services that host and protect the site receive standard technical data, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the page requested. If something breaks, an error report records the error, where in our code it happened, the page, your browser and the steps just before it. Visits are counted without cookies. If analytics is allowed, analytics cookies also record how the site and the tool are used. Tool events describe what the tool did, not what you gave it: for example the file type, a size range, which kinds of metadata were found and which family of tools wrote them, such as Adobe or OpenAI (never their values), and whether checking, cleaning and downloading worked.
Analytics and cookies
When analytics is allowed (see the next section), we use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the site is used. They store identifiers in cookies and in your browser's storage, and receive your IP address, the pages you view and the site you came from, which buttons, links and switches you use (never their text), general browser and device details, an approximate location, and the tool events described above. Screen recording is off. We don't use advertising cookies, ad pixels or remarketing.
When analytics loads
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, every country we have not specifically reviewed, and whenever your country can't be determined, analytics loads only after you press "Accept analytics" on our banner. In the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, where the law asks us to inform you rather than ask first, it is on by default. Everywhere, "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the page turns it off and deletes its cookies, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a refusal unless you press "Accept analytics" yourself. To know which rule applies, our network provider tells us the country your IP address belongs to; we keep no record of it linked to you.
How we use information
To run, secure and improve the site: to check and clean the files you add, keep the site working, fix errors, and see which pages and features are useful. We don't sell your information and don't use it for advertising.
Who receives it
Only service providers that run the site for us: hosting and network, file processing, payment processing, email delivery, error monitoring, logging and internal alerts, and the analytics tools named above. They process data on our behalf — the payment provider receives your email address and the payment details you give it, and we never see or store your full card number. Some of them are in the United States, and our network provider works worldwide; for transfers out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions where they apply, and on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Legal basis
Processing the files you add, and running your account and payments, is needed to give you the service you ask for. Analytics with cookies relies on your consent wherever we ask for it first. Keeping records of payments relies on our legal obligations. Everything else, and analytics where it is on by default, relies on our legitimate interest in running a working, secure and useful service. You can object at any time.
How long we keep it
Only as long as needed for these purposes. Files you add to the tool are deleted within 24 hours. Technical logs, error reports and internal alerts are kept for a limited time and then deleted; analytics data is kept according to the analytics tools' retention settings.
Your choices and rights
You can refuse or withdraw analytics at any time through "Cookie settings"; withdrawing doesn't affect what was collected before. By emailing us you can ask for access to, correction, deletion or restriction of data about you, or a portable copy, or object to its use. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies
NEXT_LOCALE remembers the language you picked in the language selector, for one year. dal_consent stores your answer on the cookie banner for six months, if you give one. Only when analytics is allowed: Google Analytics' _ga and _ga_<id> (two years) and PostHog's ph_<project key>_posthog (one year). Our cookieless visit counter and error reports set no cookies.
